I have had a Klean Kanteen stainless steel drink bottle for 2 1/2 years now and can really tell the difference in water taste, especially after the water has been in the bottle for a few hours. I also find that the water stays cooler in the bottle when kept at room temperature.
I am really happy with the product and would strongly recommend it.

Aimee, you brought up a good point. I have recently thrown away my SIGG bottle and bought a Klean Kanteen.

Reason is not because the lining is BPA or not BPA. It is simply the lining gets scrapped off where the cap is screwed. I have used my bottle for 3 months and the normal wear and tear has already EXPOSED the Aluminium.

Aluminium has long been linked to the risk of Alzheimer disease and is a neurotoxic substance.

I think that stainless steel is still the best bet after centuries of this material beng used for cooking utensils subjected to extreme heat…

Klean Kanteens are constructed of high-quality, sanitary grade 304 stainless steel. The stainless steel in Klean Kanteens has a low nickel content and is preferred by breweries and dairies.

It sounds like the Nickel content in their bottles is really low and what you would find in any high quality steel. I have heard mixed things about aluminum since they contain a lining on the inside because it contains toxins that are dangerous to us.

I have been using a stainless steel water bottle for several years and have not had any problems and it has held up really strong.

What I really want to know is the safety of drinking beverages from stainless steel vs the Sigg aluminum. On their site, Sigg says their lining is 100 percent safe and that some lower grade stainless steels do leech chemicals. Klean Kanteen seems to use a very high quality steel, but on their web site they discuss nickel and it’s harmful effects on some and that stainless steel does indeed have some nickel in it. So what’s the deal? Which is safest?

I understand your frustration especially since it is very difficult to find a simple stainless steel water bottle that is made in America. I don’t agree with your statement in that the Chinese businesses aren’t trying to put lead in all of our products. I do agree that some of the business practices are sketchy, especially involving their wages. I think the real blame needs to be put on our us. We need to make it known that we are willing to pay a little more to make a quality product here in America. All we seem to care about is spending as little money as possible, even if the product is not well made.

im very disapointed that there are not higer standards when it comes to quality, and that people are to be cheap when it comes to quality. if im going to switch from plastic to stainless steal im going to swtich to something that is actually safe and buy in AMERICA! whats the point of trying to be healthier and more “eco friendly” when china puts lead in everything and enslaves little children to cut cost.

Looks like a great idea. I wish you could find one on the internet made in the usa. Some countries i worry about what they use and how they make things. I will look at the kateen i like the idea of not drinking from plastic
