I just want to thank everybody who joined in on Earth hour this year and share what I did for it this year. It was fairly boring for me as all I did was lay down during my time. I was busy this weekend helping other move and I just an early night. Pretty boring Saturday night for me, but it was nice to just relax and not do anything.

As Earth Hour has proven, the impact of simply turning unused or non-essential electrical items off is surprisingly significant. So many times computers are left on over night, rarely used printers/toasters/paper shredders remain on sucking up energy, computer monitors flash screen savers for hours on end. Analysts at BlueMap, Inc. have found some simple solutions for shutting those electrical items off while saving both money and the environment.

    * Occupancy sensors for lights are a cheap solution for keeping those bathroom lights off when empty.
    * Daylight sensors for rooms with natural light are perfect for window offices and boardrooms that remain empty for most of the day.
    * A plug load controller offers an easy way to shut off idle electronics left unused for hours.

In combining smart office and house practices that focus on limiting energy waste, these simple devices can help in really cutting costs while sparing the environment!

Thanks for promoting Earth Hour! Another way you can recruit people to the cause is by creating a Earth Hour group on Commit21.com. Simply create a group about one action that you will commit to do for Earth Hour and recruit your friends, family, and co-workers to get involved in that action as well. When it comes to climate change, simple actions can make huge differences and Commit21 leverages social media to influence networks of friends, family, and co-workers. Check it out at www.commit21.com

It is neat to see that so many places in my state are observing Earth Hour. Of course it is not as much as up north, but there are a good number of schools and cities participating.

I remember hearing about this last year. However, it was unfortunately only after the fact. I will have to make sure to observe Earth Hour this year.
