Reactions to California’s TV Energy Efficiency Standards
Since I last posted the article on California’s Energy Efficiency Standards on televisions, there have been reactions for all sides of the issue, the state of California, television manufacturers and electronics stores. Here is a great video that goes into the reactions by all parties.
There seems to be such a mixed reaction over this regulation. I mentioned this in the prior article that we as consumers need to make better decisions and not continue to buy bigger televisions. No matter how much regulation is put into place and how energy efficient electronics become, huge electronics like televisions use tons of energy.

Very interesting and mixed reviews. While I am sure large TV’s do take a ton of energy, I really don’t see America downsizing in the area anytime soon.
Great report and video!
TVs just continue to get bigger and bigger so I guess it is time to put an end to this or at least attempt to regulate in efforts to go green.
Good video. It’s like what’s done with cars. More energy efficient TV’s are a thing of the future.
Governments really should have stepped in before the huge tv trend took off. Now there are countless people with a 50″+ tv that is likely wasting electricity. If governments could have done something sooner, tvs could have been manufactured to be more energy efficient years ago.
We don’t ignore this TV energy efficiency issue. Why we wasting our valuable energy on it.
As far as I know California is struggling with energy breakdowns every summer. This should give people some tips about using air conditioning in every home.
Are other states looking at similar initiatives?
Not at the moment, but this type of legislation could cause manufacturers to universally make the change to more energy effecient tvs.
