Is the Apple Tablet Eco-Friendly?
All the latest rave is on the just announced Apple Tablet. The device appears to be nothing more than a larger iPhone, but Apple is praising this as one of its most innovative devices.
Though the discussion of this new tablet may not seem relevant on this blog, there are some that feel it’s sustainably design could contribute to reducing the manufacture of many computer related products. TreeHugger does a great job in discussing both the positives and negatives of the tablet in terms of its sustainability.

Apple has really become one of the leaders in technological innovations. The Apple tablet is just another one of its great devices. The iPhone 4G would be released very soon…
Not too sure how I feel about this new apple tablet. I’m sure they’ll convince me soon enough. However, I wouldn’t purchase the 1st generation tablet because surely they’ll come out with a better one after.
The iPad better come with some kind of heavy duty battery – it looks more like a toy than anything. I can see users getting sucked into using it for hours and running down the battery.
I usually think Apple stuff is cool, although due to being overpriced I’ve never bought anything from them, but I really don’t see the appeal of the iPad, apart from the interface and being nice and light.
Till then,

I don’t need, or want to pay for another gadget. I think technology has gotten out of control. It seems like people think they can’t survive without being constantly connected to the internet. We need to get away from that.
I feel they(Apple) are making the same product in different sizes and promoting with different names.
Personally I don’t really think the ipad will have many green effects. While it is replacing some devices, it is also creating a 2nd computer for people as it is not powerful enough to act as a primary computer. It’s not as if people will all turn off their computers more often just because they now have a secondary computer. It may also be starting the trend of having these tablet computers located in more and more places. Just think of Bill Gates’ mansion which has had computers mounted on walls and on the fridge door. If that catches on more, it will be a big waste of energy.
