Get Out and Enjoy the Snow
This has been a very active winter with several major snow storms. Why not get outside and enjoy that snow instead of sitting in the house and using electronics.
When I was young, I would also get so excited when it snowed outside. My brother and I would be out in the snow as soon as we could and stay out much of the day. We wold have snowball fights with other kids in the neighborhood, finding a perfect sledding spot or help my dad clear out the snow of the driveway. Regardless of what we did, all kept us out of the house, active and playing with other kids.
Even as an adult, you can still enjoy the snow by just taking a walk in the snow and bringing back those childhood memories. There is also outdoor skating in many towns across our country. Who every said you can’t have fun in the snow just because you are over a certain age?
No snow? There is still a world of nature out there that your kids can enjoy. Getting outdoors and enjoying nature is the key to keeping an active lifestyle. Regardless of whether that is snow, water sports, hiking or running.
What are some of your favorite outdoor activities to do when it snows?

Where exactly does it snow AND people WANT to be outside? Here in the mid-west, as I’m looking out my door right now, people’s favorite outdoor activities look to be riding around in their cars and shivering while walking to their cars or smoking cigarettes (since there is no smoking in public locations). I asked around my office and everyone seems to be in agreement; no more snow is the best snow.
We had a beautiful snow in Atlanta over the weekend. A treat for us! It was pretty just to look at. And it was gone in 48 hours.
Awww I love the snow.
Cross country skiing and winter photography rank high on the list. I am all for enjoying the snow as an adult, kids can’t have all the fun
I love getting outdoors and getting the family out for some adventures. Where we live it does not snow, ever. On hot days we are in the pool, at the beach or out for a nature walk, not sitting indoors with the aircon blasting and the play station on to keep the kids amused. I lived in Seattle for a while and woke up to some snowy mornings, usually the pounding of snowballs on my bedroom window from the neighbours did the trick. All in street snow fight!! Yeah!! We are never to old to act young.
We tried playing in the snow, but since we are so short our bellies got cold. We would rather look at it through the window.
I love getting out and playing in the snow. Since I live in Vancouver, we don’t see much snow. Still, it is a good time to drive to the local mountains for some skiing.
Laptop – we have been watching the olympics – Vancouve is lovely. And you don’t get much snow there?
I always feel sad for people who can’t appreciate the outdoors, be it snow, jungle, oceans or beaches. There’s just so much fun to be had it’s hard to even begin to describe it. Snowball fights are just the tip of the iceberg.
Till then,
Jean
Haha… I guess I could tell people to go out and enjoy the sun (since we are in sunny Cali) – the funny things is, you just take things for granted.
We would drive hours to get up to the mountain so we can enjoy the snow, but the sunshine is just as nice. I guess we all have that “The grass is greener on the other side” mentality.
