Say Hello to the Great Outdoors

Getting outdoors on a regular basis – especially in the summertime when the weather is so beautiful – can have a multitude of positive benefits. I had this in mind when, after a hectic week at work last week, I decided to put my errands on the back-burner, convinced a friend that I was supposed to go to the movies with to go on a short hike instead. Unsurprisingly, I came home feeling calm, happy, and recharged … and had the bonus of still having the cost of the movie ticket in my wallet.
In the hopes that we may all be so lucky as the summer wears on, I’ve put together a very short list of other ways to go green (and save money!) by getting outdoors:
- Go camping instead of staying at a hotel and save big on your summer vacation.
- Have a picnic instead of dining at a restaurant.
- Meet a friend for a hike, a bike ride, or a long walk instead of going shopping or to the movies.
- Check out a National Park rather than a theme park with your family this summer.
What are some things that you like to do to enjoy the summer greenery, save money, and go green?

Picnic by the lake is sure a breeze in these hot summer days, especially here in AZ
