Quick Savings Tip: Safe and Effective Household Cleaners

Making your own products is definitely the way to go if you have the time or patience. One of the reasons we don’t see homemade type products on the shelves is probably because they’re not very shelf stable. The ones that contain lemon juice might actually start to smell bad after a time.

I think any homemade housecleaning products are great…They cut back on expenses and also are environmentally friendly and don’t waste product packaging. However, I do agree with the other comment on shelf life and suggest researching this. They provide a guide link, and I can also do the same to help anyone else. A safe, really cheap cleaning product that you can find at any grocery store is Bon Ami. It comes in powder form, in a golden canister (like those cans of Comet). It is one of those products that is really old and works really well without chemicals. Plus it is about 90 cents per can.

Great Article! I couldn’t click through that link for the list of green cleaning ingredients…I use almost exclusively white vinegar, baking soda, etc. And I love it! I am totally sold on making most of my own natural cleaners and I notice a huge difference…like no harsh fumes!
