Well just putting solar panels on the white house is a rather tiny move, but it is a start and a statement to the nation. To back up this statement, they should follow through and make renewable energy a part of all government buildings. That would be a much bigger statement and would actually have more of a substantial impact than just making a single building green
Solar panels are too costly and out of reach from middle income level people. The main reason for hight prices is the machine which requires to manufacture the solar cell. Government has to invest in manufacturing machinery in order to provide affordable solar panel.
Well this is certainly a positive move in the right direction, hopefully it gives more influence to others to look at their own housing energy use. It is interesting though the past history with all the presidents and the moves they made, I actually didn’t know about Bush making the changes.
The government definitely has to set an example by being as green as possible. Then others will take notice and follow suit. They can’t exactly enforce strict environmental standards unless they are doing a good job themselves.
