Considering the large amount of milk I’ve drank over the years, this is a disturbing story. I’ve been somewhat aware of the hormones added to milk for a while, but I didn’t think it was also a cancer risk. It is amazing that companies could get away with something like this for so long.
Wow, this is totally new to me. How appalling it is to carry out unethical practices like this. It’s right up there with what KFC allegedly do with their chicken too. Hope they can put an end to these practice for good.
Yes, it is surprising, but it has to do with who regulates what (to an extent). The USDA, FDA, EPA, and a few other organizations all regulate food and health issues to an extent. This is a specific USDA issue, and legislatively, the majority of farm and agriculture related laws favor mega farming over biodiversity, animal welfare, and other sustainability and health issues.
Thanks to the farmers who fought to be able to label things “hormone free” though, this choice is easy to make and identify in the grocery aisles. A few bucks more in some cases, but based on the research and the general principles of hormone ingestion, a worthwhile investment in your health. Glad it was informative!
The ironic part is that people consider milk to be a healthy beverage. So many people are consuming milk totally unaware of the risks. They think they are actually putting something good into their body, yet it could be quite harmful. I wonder if these hormones will stay in the cows’ systems for life or if there is some way to recover.
Cow milk is for Cows, not humans!! It’s very dangerous to drink milk from another species, the effects to our bodies are destructive.
@SEO Miami: that is a bit extreme. We can get a lot of important nutrients from milk products. I really doubt anybody is going to start producing dairy products made of human breast milk.
@Aluminum, I gotta agree with you, there’s no way that would ever work lol. And even if that somehow became a product.. I think its fair to say it would be very very expensive, since the amount of that type of milk is very limited.

Almost hurts to see the cows with such huge udders. I’ve never really been in favor of such genetic modifications in animals in the first place.
