The Election is over…Recycle Those Signs

I really hate those election signs too. They turn beautiful green areas into commercial ugliness. You’d think if a politician cared about the people voting for them, they would do their part to take care of their neighborhood. At the very least, they should be cleaning up all the mess their signs make. It is amazing that this strategy is still so widely used when we are in the digital age.

Sadly its no better here in Tenerife. One friend told me how he was paid to go dump politicians flyers in the landfill by the man who was supposed to arrange for their distribution. So the flyers were such an absolute waste of paper, ink, material and manhours that they were even dumped before they got the chance to pollute the streets. What a world we live in.

I wonder how affective those signs actually are, I bet it’s really not…. You know it may very well be a great idea to ban them. Not only would it save money and help the environment, if no one has them, then it is a level playing field for all the competitors! Humm that makes me also wonder if any towns in USA have already begun to ban them.

Oh my, these election signs are ugly and certainly are not environment friendly!

I hate these signs. People just start throwing them up on your lawn in the middle of the night, and you wake up to this nonsense.

Hopefully they at least enact some kind of legislation that requires all political signs to be recyclable and not left up too long. Or maybe politicians can wake up and start using more effective strategies.

This is something I’ve always wondered. Just where do all the signs and posters go after a major election campaign. I sure hope everyone involved with them take the time to recycle them afterward.
