This year, for the second year, we opted out of gift exchanges with family and friends. Instead, we wrote 4 checks to non-profits that were meaningful to our family. With a 5 month old everyone expected us to do the “normal” holiday. We didn’t, and it was lovely. We hope our son will never experience the winter holidays buried in gifts and gift wrap.
