I am surprised you don’t mention changing the daily commute patters. You can save a lot of money by taking the bus, or ride a bike instead of the car. A 1-6 km commute distance is not that much, take little more time, you get in shape. AND save lots of carbon emissions.Win+Win+Win in my book. And you can at least do it during summer.
If you have to have a car, buy a smaller, more economical car with low emissions, or carpool. And ecodriving save lots of gas money.
I use Commute Greener! as a help to change my habits. It works great, as I get to see my CO2 savings, what i did good and bad. And I have saved quite a lot of money already. I can recommend it:commutegreener.com
