For preventing paper I think all schools must build preventing house. Like paper or metal things must be keep.
I am currently attending a university in my final year of a Bachelor’s degree, I can tell you at my school there is definitely alot of waste. Students are able to print freely and have no limit. So that definitely allows for abuse. Also professors tend to over print to accommodate assignments to students. Like you are saying about lecture notes, I see the same thing happen here at my university.

Yes it is quite disappointing to see all of that paper waste. At the very least, most classrooms and lecture halls should have recycling bins. That way we can promote recycling from a young age and reinforce that throughout their schooling.
@Aluminum, I can tell you that our university does have recycling bins all over the place especially in every computer lab. In fact the recycle bin is next to the printers, which come in handy whenever someone misprints something.

You are very right and I am agree very much with you that we don’t actually need our own slides when we can see from the screen! But yet they always use the word “for best learning effectiveness and practice” which I very much disagree.
At the university I used to go to they would often print off the slides. It was kind of handy but I can appreciate the point. Perhaps professors need a budget, just like high school teachers have. That might force them to cut it down a bit.
I long for the day when paper usage can be largely eliminated in schools, offices, etc. replaced by convenient electronic media. Already they have come out with a kind of a ‘digital screen’ that is flexible. I think within a few years, we should see digital media take over paper considerably.
