The Earth Machine Compost Bin Giveaway – CLOSED

Earth Machine Composter

The Earth Machine Compost bin one of the leading compost bins on the market. This compost bin was created by Norseman Plastic Environment Products in order to promote home composting throughout our country. They are carried by almost every major company carrying compost bins on the market and through many local municipalities throughout the country. Over 3,500 municipalities having composting programs that carry the Earth Machine which have distributed over 2.5 million. Some of the major features of the Earth Machine composter are:

  • Twist-locking pest-resistant lid
  • Ten year warranty
  • Locking harvesting door
  • Side ventilation

I bought an Earth Machine composting bin from my local municipality when I moved to my new home.  This was one of the best investments I could have made.  The entire compost bin is made of strong plastic that feels like it will last.  It also takes every measure to ensure that pests will not enter into your compost by having a locking door and tight sealing lid.  Aesthetically it is not an eye sore like some compost bins can be and fits in almost any part of your yard.  At a diameter and height of 33″ , it is large enough to hold a large amount of waste products without having to empty.

Norseman Plastics was generous enough to give the readers of Pays to Live Green an opportunity to win The Earth Machine Compost Bin ($100 value).

  1. Nice competition, with a valuable (important) prize. Until recently I had a house, and the feeling of satisfaction from composting was great. Instead of filling a garbage pail with food that then becomes smelly and rotten and ends up in a dump somewhere, I was able to save all but the meat products (which was not that much anyway) and convert them to soil. That included leaves as well. Those who have recycled and composted know that feeling already; those who have not yet done so, should give it a try.

I hope to find my way to some kind of recycling of food from this fairly large apartment, before too long.

  2. My favorite feature is the little work that is necessary in order to make it work.

  7. SIMPLICITY OF USE
For the passive composting person (“Dump & Run”)
The Earth Machine™ is designed for easy, passive composting – just start filling the bin, water, and occasionally stir or poke. The finished compost is ready in two to three months.

I need a composting bin for my household food scraps. Yard waste can just go in a pile in the yard, but fruit peels and eggshells and such have to be thrown away or they will attract animals. A nice closed container that will lock out animals and other pests will make our compost so much richer!

  11. I love that it has a ten year warranty so you are really getting your money’s worth!

I read that compost can reduce your garden water bill by 30 percent. This is amazing. I did not know that a product like this was on the market. I live in the desert and would love to increase the nutrients in our soil (it is really just dirt) and reduce our water bills.

I like the fact that it’s basically two sections that snap together, along with the lid and the harvesting door. The compost bin that I am currently using is made up of a series of slats that fit together. Several of the slats have broken, and now the lid won’t even sit on the bin. I really need a new one.

    • Michael Kuntz
    • July 15th, 2009

I sooooo need this! I have a composter now that honestly sucks. It is these stackable square (flimsy) things that make it impossible to stir without knocking apart. Everything about it is just not well thought out. This one, however, looks AMAZING! If you don’t know anything about composting, this thing looks like it would make it very easy for you. My favorite feature is the easy access through the large lid opening, easy turning and aerating, & no corners for material to get stuck in.

    SIMPLICITY OF USE
For the passive composting person (“Dump & Run”)
The Earth Machine™ is designed for easy, passive composting – just start filling the bin, water, and occasionally stir or poke. The finished compost is ready in two to three months. THIS WOULD BE SO GREAT FOR MY SO CALLED FARM ( HAVE SOME HORSES AND CHICKENS) AND WE LIVE ABOUT 10 MILES FROM ANYTHING AND I SURE COULD USE THIS TO PUT WASTE IN THANKS FOR THE CHANCE
